Short reading text and vocabulary in context

During the waste project, the eco team created a notice for the school website. They wanted the text to be short, clear and useful for pupils who had not joined the project yet.

The notice explained that the word “reusable” means something that can be used again. It also encouraged pupils to reduce waste, collect data and share unopened food instead of throwing it away.

Some words in the notice were new for younger pupils, so the team added examples. For instance, they explained that overflowing bins are bins that are too full, and that a share table is a place where pupils can leave food for others.
